In 2009 we were asked to train a group of doctors. This seemed a strange request, but the Medical Superintendant of the Enga Baptist Health Service stressed the importance of this venture. Most bush hospitals or health centres may not have electrical power nor the people with knowledge or understanding of how to fix equipment in remote locations. So visiting doctors on rural patrols are expected by villagers to fix anything that does not work. Dr Taiye Pendene commented, "The training has been so fulfilling that I am feeling competent in diagnosing, trouble shooting and doing maintenance on equipment." "I believe this kind of technical support will contribute to the National Health Plan for doctors to move into rural areas." This may be an important addition to CRMF's ministry. |
